Overview:

The marketing department at Great Lakes Crossing has an opening for a college intern who will assist the management team and gain knowledge of marketing and advertising. The intern will be given projects to develop, execute and manage as they relate to the shopping center.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support the marketing director and marketing coordinators in all related initiatives
• Execute corporate, merchant, sponsor and website promotions
• Assist with all aspects of shopping center events
• Write/edit marketing collateral such as public relations materials, tenant newsletters, website content and advertisements
• Facilitate in-center tasks, research and administrative duties on a daily basis

Job Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in a college or university and able to receive college credit(s) for completing the internship, preferably majoring in marketing, advertising, public relations or a related field
• A professional attitude
• Ability to multitask and shift gears quickly
• Comfortable speaking to different audiences (store management teams, customers, mall management staff, corporate contacts)
• Enthusiasm for tasks at hand
• Ability to work 25-30 hours a week, preferably three days per week
• Willingness to work occasional weekend events

The assistant manager is responsible for supporting the store manager in achieving financial goals and motiviating a sales team. Goals will be achieved through recruiting talent, demonstrating sales leadership, promoting a positive work environment and managing operational processes to comply with company standards and policies.

Part-Time Assistant Manager

• Availability must be a minimum of 31 hours weekly
• Generally shifts range for 3 to 8 hours, approximately 12-20 hours per week, not to exceed 31 hours per week
• Work a minimum of four weekend shifts per month (Saturday or Sunday)
• Available for peak selling times including, but not limited to, new lines, inventory, sales promotions, special events and holidays
• On-call shifts will be scheduled if a shortage of staffing occurs and/or during peak selling times, new lines, inventory, sales promotions, special events and holidays

Sales Leadership/Floor Awareness

• Generate exceptional sales results; act as a role model by demonstrating effective selling behaviors
• Ensure team demonstrates exception selling behaviors and utilizes Gymboree Cares
• Ensure employees are knowledgeable of financial goals, results and opportunities
• Maintain constant awareness of customer traffic and team/customer interaction
• Prioritize and complete tasks to maximize sales results

Store Operations

• Meet all deadlines; follow up with team to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Manage store schedule to maximize employee productivity and sales results
• Ensure fiscal integrity of store by keeping accurate records, securing store assets and supporting all loss prevention initiatives
• Comply with operational policies and procedures and meet visual presentation standards
